Clare Island Boat Trip - Departs Kildavnet Pier 9.15am, return leg departs Clare Island 3.30pm. Book online at clareislandferry.com. 

Climate Course for Over 60s - Free six-week course for over-60s to understand environmental issues. What's On in Achill This Week - Entertainment & Events Listings

Back by popular demand! Europe’s only circus science festival returns to venues in Achill and other parts of County Mayo in November 2024. The activities take place from Friday 15th to Sunday 17th November and the event is supported by Science Foundation Ireland. This year the event has partnered with Mayo Autism to bring two special performances, and includes a post-show discussion of women in STEM.

Circus Science by the Sea Festival 2024

Achill Tourism will again host a Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning Social for Hospice event, on Friday 25th October. Last year’s event raised almost €2,000 for Mayo-Roscommon Hospice and we hope 2024 will be just as successful. Join us at Achill Tourism HQ, next to the Post Office in Achill Sound, from 10am to 2pm.

As well as teas and coffees there will be a selection of home-baked cakes, buns and other treats. Come along and say hello, have the craic, and help raise funds for this worthwhile cause.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation was founded in 1992. Before the Foundation was established there were no specialist services for terminally ill patients in Mayo and Roscommon. People were often sent home from the hospital and many suffered difficult and painful deaths.  In 1992, thanks to the foresight and dedication of a small group of people, the Foundation was established as a voluntary organisation to help provide Hospice/Palliative Care Services in the two Counties.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation agreed to work in association with the Western Health Board (now HSE West) in an effort to meet the Service needs. The Service covers an area of 3,143 sq. miles with a population of 194,000 (Mayo approx. 130,000 and Roscommon 64,000).  The Foundation, with the loyal support of the public, continues to fund the service in association with HSE West. Every year we fund approx 50% of the existing Service costs and to build two Hospices in Mayo and Roscommon.

In 2019 the Mayo Hospice was completed at a cost of €9m, all of which came from fundraised income. We will continue to fund services within the Mayo Hospice through fundraising.

Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning 2024

The full line-up of speakers, writers, guides and musicians for the annual Heinrich Böll Memorial Arts Festival has been announced for 2024. The event takes place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, which this year will be from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th May.
